Is there a need for art nowadays?
We think forward, we believe in technology, inventions and in space. Conversations about other planets, especially Mars, are gradually becoming casual. As if we started to realize that we've almost worn the Earth out. Now we are seeking for new spaces, we need to take human race elsewhere in order to survive. Looking at it from this point of view, I always find myself falling into a comparison: humanity as a virus. During these moments I lack respect for mankind. For the reason that I can only see a trajectory of development. Endless pushing forwards, essentiality of self-development, records renewal, updating, upgrading. Who needs it? The principal, which seats inside us?
Nature has got its principal too, with the only difference: nature accepts fading away. It's more of a cycle. We're heading off up and up and up. We want only to inhale, without willing to exhale.
In this case, Mars is an option indeed. Would people need art there? Surviving will be in priority once again. There will be luck of supplies, especially for artistic needs. Shape will come back to its simplification. Art will start suving a totemic function. Red palette, frizzing cold, sandy storms will dictate means of expression.
What's left to artists of today times then? Depicting fading away? Turning internal movement forward into a cyrcle?
